Our story

myperfectresumee started with a problem we kept watching people lose time to. Someone would finish writing their experience, then spend the next two hours fighting a word processor — a bullet that would not align, a section that pushed onto a third page, a layout that fell apart the moment it was exported. The writing was the hard part, and the formatting was eating the effort.

The tools that existed split badly in two directions. Free templates gave you a document and no guidance, so you were left guessing at what belonged in each section. Paid writing services produced a polished result but cost more than most job seekers and students can justify, and you learned nothing you could reuse for the next application. Neither helped the person who knew their own history perfectly well and just needed the document to behave.

So we built the thing in the middle: a structured builder that handles layout, spacing and export while you concentrate on content, paired with written guidance that explains the decisions rather than just asserting rules. We later added a Statement of Purpose builder for the same reason — students applying to universities and for visas were hitting an identical wall with a very different document.

We are a small independent product team based in India, working with users worldwide. That size is why our guides are practical rather than exhaustive: everything we publish is something we have had to solve for a real user.

Our mission and vision

Our mission is to make a well-structured, professional application document something anyone can produce in an afternoon — regardless of design skill, writing confidence, or budget. Concretely, that means the formatting should never be the reason a good candidate looks careless, and the guidance should be free to read whether or not you ever pay us anything.

Our vision is a hiring process where applicants are assessed on what they have actually done. Presentation acts as a filter today: strong candidates get overlooked because their document parsed badly or buried the relevant experience on page two. Every layout we ship and every guide we write is aimed at closing that gap between the substance a person has and the impression their document creates.

What we know, and how we know it

Expertise claims are easy to make, so here is exactly what ours rests on. We build and maintain the tools on this site, which means we see the failure modes directly rather than reading about them.

• Document structure and export. We wrote the PDF and Word generation ourselves. When we say a layout survives export or a heading style is risky, that is tested against our own renderer, not assumed.
• Where people actually get stuck. Sections users leave blank, drafts that run long, and the questions that arrive repeatedly through support tell us what our guidance has failed to explain. That is what decides which guide we write next.
• Statement of Purpose conventions for university and visa applications, which follow different rules from a resume and where length is set by the institution rather than by convention.

We are equally clear about the boundary. We are not recruiters, careers counsellors, immigration advisers or lawyers, and we do not present ourselves as any of those. We can tell you how to structure a document so it reads well and survives screening. Questions about visa eligibility, employment law or contract terms need a qualified professional in that field, and we say so on the pages where it matters.

How we operate, transparently

You should be able to see how a site that gives you advice makes its money, because that is what tells you whether the advice can be trusted.

• How we are funded. Optional paid plans and advertising. Ads are visually distinguishable from our content, and advertisers have no input into what our guides say or how our templates are ordered.
• No sponsored or affiliate content. We do not publish paid articles or paid reviews, and we take no commission for mentioning anyone. The only product we recommend is our own, and we say so plainly when we do.
• The guidance is genuinely free. Every guide is readable without an account or a payment. There is no gate and no email wall.
• What we do with your writing. Your resume and SOP content is yours. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what we store and why.
• How AI is used. Our builder offers AI-assisted phrasing suggestions that you edit and approve — the facts in your document must be yours. Our published guides are written and reviewed by people, not generated unreviewed.
• When we get it wrong. Every guide carries a last-reviewed date, and we correct errors when readers report them. Email us and we will look into it.

Why you can trust what you read here

Reasonable scepticism about career advice online is healthy — a great deal of it is written to rank rather than to help. Four things are worth checking about us, and all four are verifiable rather than asserted.

1. Our advice is attributable and dated. Each guide names who wrote it and when it was last reviewed.
2. We are specific enough to be wrong. Vague advice cannot be checked. We give numbers, before-and-after examples, and named trade-offs — which means you can hold us to it.
3. We tell you when not to use us. Our guides point out where a template is the wrong choice, when a cover letter is not worth writing, and where you need a professional instead. A site that only ever recommends itself is not advising you.
4. We are reachable. A real support address, stated response times, and published legal terms. Details are on our contact page.
