When I began my academic journey as an undergraduate at Horizon State University, I had little idea of where my exact passions lay. I eventually decided to join the department of computer science and applied mathematics due to a longstanding interest in the former and my demonstrated strength in the latter. My advisor in the computer science department, Professor Williams, introduced me to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) during the summer after my freshman year by offering me a job as an undergraduate researcher. I enthusiastically accepted the position, seeing it as a wonderful opportunity to combine my experiences from both departments.
Professor Williams originally offered me a position due to my coursework in advanced algorithms and data structures, which was far beyond the standard freshman curriculum. I have since tried to enroll in classes that I felt would best prepare me for a future in graduate school by studying topics in deep learning, neural networks, and optimization theory. Having just completed graduate-level courses in 'Advanced Machine Learning' and 'Optimization Algorithms' with high standing, I believe that my exceptionally solid background leaves me well prepared to make useful contributions to Tech Global University's graduate program.
